"The inherent allure of folk and blues is the rawness and authenticity they offer, qualities that Nick Critchlow embraces wholeheartedly in his music...Through his masterful guitar strumming and poignant lyrics, Nick captures the heart and soul of these genres, creating a melodious fusion that is both comforting and compelling." (Jukebox Time) |
Nick Critchlow is a singer/songwriter from Fort Collins, Colorado. He has been a local NoCo musician for over a decade, playing his original acoustic tunes up-and-down the front range. Critchlow loves to mix warm acoustic chords with a folk and blues sound. Lyrically, Critchlow often explores universal concepts such as growing older, relationships, and finding purpose. However, he also enjoys tongue-in-cheek tunes and telling humorous stories in between songs. His biggest musical influences are Gregory Alan Isakov, The Head and the Heart, Fleet Foxes, Nick Drake, and Jack Johnson. Depending on the size and needs of the venue, Critchlow plays solo, as a duo, or trio.
Thomas Viney is a seasoned violinist who has played in various orchestras and music groups for the past 15 years. He specializes in creating rich melodies and harmonies and catchy fiddle licks. Viney also provides backup vocals.
Jesse Thompson has been playing drums for 29 years. He was in several projects in Alaska, and more recently was in the Fort Collins group Hot Magic. Thompson plays cajon and sings backup vocals with Nick Critchlow.
Paper Cranes - New Album of 2023
On August 18th, Nick Critchlow released his second album, Paper Cranes. The album features six original tunes and one cover song. "An orchestral beauty befalls the entirety of Nick Critchlow’s inherently lovely 'Paper Cranes.' The arrangements possess an inherent bloom of life, allowing every single detail to come into focus. Nods to graceful groups like the Fleet Foxes and the whispered intimacy of Iron & Wine emerge from the procession.

Best of all are his vocals. Sung with pure positivity, the verses float by like a cool summer breeze. He infuses a sense of pure poetry into his narration, allowing the atmosphere to have this heavenly disposition. Melodies waft into the air, for they go for this brightness, a quality that further endears the album to the listener" (B. Sloth, Twitter reviewer). Read the full review here.
